There is a new boat licence system at Bulshoek dam.
The Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF) through the West Coast District Municipality (WCDM) control law enforcement and boat licences at Bulshoek Dam. The WCDM have in turn passed this authority on the The Bulshoek Riparian Owners Association or Bulshoek Oewereienaars Vereeniging (BOEV). Until the Rules specific to Bulshoek dam have been promulgated, we will be applying the rules as set out in Government Notice R654. The effecting of the boating rules now have the muscle of the law.
There are five people from Bulshoek dam who attended and passed an intensive three day Peace Officers course conducted by Dr Joe Herbig at the WCDM in Moorreesburg.
They are:

As you may know, I represent Braam at the BOEV and have the portfolio of policing at the dam. The above mentioned people are there to ensure that the dam is a safe place for us all to enjoy and to encourage "errant" water users to adhere to the rules.
You will receive updates regarding our Emergency Plan, Boating regulations and any other information that affects the dam environment. Please feel free to let me have any suggestions that you feel might enhance our piece of paradise.
Your new boat licences are now due for payment for the period 1/7/2006 - 30/06/2007. Once completed, (use your existing boat number eg B54) please print it, sign it and when you next see me or Braam, he or I can sign as the Riparian owner. Please note clause 10 - I suggest that you laminate the licence.
We need all the payments effected by the end of this month - November 2006.
The fees are R120,00 for a boat and jetski. A house boat is R250,00 and a sailing boat (Hobie) is R90,00. Please forward payment to Braam and quote your name and existing boat lic number. Braam will in turn forward the money to the WCDM. Please also advise me when you have paid.
You might ask why the process has taken so long - well don't ask !!! (red tape)
